The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced yesterday major renovations to the Coast Guard base in Kitsilano, British Columbia where the CG 158 response boat is permanently stationed. The vessel has also been renamed the CCGS Laredo Sound, after an ocean passage off the scenic central coast of B.C. In 2017 The Canadian Coast Guard purchased this Camarc Design 45ft RBM from the United States Coast Guard using the callsign Coast Guard 158. While in service the vessel has seen significantly improved response times for environmental incidents and search and rescue missions in all weather conditions.
